Open Director Positions:

Director of Membership & Fundraising:

This position entails participation and attendance at quarterly board meetings as well as:

• Outreach to non-member birth centers educating them on benefits of membership and encouraging them to join
• Answering membership questions from current past members
• Proposing & organizing fundraising activities
• Grant writing 
• Ensuring members have access to all member benefits

Director of Public Relations & Social Media 

This position entails participation and attendance at quarterly board meetings as well as:

• Writing and distributing Position statements and other public materials
• Website edits including updates on the calendar quarterly
• Write and distribute quarterly Newsletter
• Manage social media platforms

Legislative Liaison 

This position entails participation and attendance at quarterly board meetings as well as:

• Monitor bills that may affect ALL midwives in VA and birth centers
• Liaison to lobbyist if applicable
• Update membership of legislative issues
• Attend hearings virtually or in-person as a representative of VBCA when able. 

The Virginia Birth Center Alliance was founded in 2018 to promote the birth center model in Virginia and support the work of birth center owners, employees, and to expand access to  consumers of birth center care. 

Covid presented challenges to a new organization, with members very busy with Covid-19 protocols, an increasing client load and the stress of the pandemic. As we emerge from 2020/21 and in to 2022 and beyond, we are working on establishing a stronger, more connected and focused VBCA.
